"We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams." Ode by Arthur O'Shaughnessy

Introduction

A student at the Royal Northern College of Music, Adam started playing the Trombone aged 7 when he wanted to play 'the funny looking one', under the guidance of Lee Rigg at his local Primary School. Soon after, aged 9, he was invited into the Wardle Academy Youth Brass Band, where Lee was the conductor. In the Youth Band, Adam learned a great deal from both Lee, and the players around him. It was also around this time Adam began to take lessons with Dr. Brett Baker.

During Adam's time playing with Wardle Youth Band, he travelled across Europe playing in concerts and competitions, winning the European Youth Brass Band Championships on 4 occasions. In both 2019 and 2022, Adam performed as the Band's soloist, and on both occasions won the 'Best Soloist' prize.

In 2018, Adam successfully auditioned for the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain (NYBBGB), where he remained a member for 6 years. In the Summer of 2019, Adam was made the Principal Trombone of the Band, a position he held for the remainder of his time as a member. Through the NYBBGB, Adam was conducted and tutored by many of the worlds finest instrumentalists, and also met like-minded lifelong friends.

Adam was appointed as the Solo Trombone of the Hammonds Band in Summer 2022, where he remained for 18 months. Throughout this time, he had some wonderful experiences, including playing at both the British Open Brass Band Championships (held at Symphony Hall, Birmingham) and the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain (held at The Royal Albert Hall, London) for the first time.

In Early 2024, Adam accepted the position of Principal Trombone of the World Famous Black Dyke Band, taking over the position from his former teacher, Brett, having been the Co-Principal Trombone of the band since June 2022. Adam is looking forward to visits to Switzerland and a Tour of Japan with the band in 2024.

Adam often plays in professional shows across Greater Manchester as a member of the Pit, and has recently been enjoying furthering his Orchestral experiences.

Adam is proud to be a Performing Artist for both Michael Rath Trombones and Denis Wick Products, playing a Custom Rath R6 Trombone with a Denis Wick 5AL Mouthpiece.
